Please note: The information provided here is intended only to assist with some of the common ways our product can be integrated in this system. Our Help Site is not a comprehensive guide to use of the Canvas LMS, and our team can only assist with Infobase Learning Cloud integration; we are unable to provide support for any other aspect of Canvas functionality. Screenshots are provided for illustrative purposes but may not exactly match your own system, particularly since navigation elements can vary depending on your version of the platform.
Once you've completed the registration and administrative set-up pieces as outlined in our Canvas LTI 1.3 Instructions, and Infobase has confirmed set-up on this side as well, the steps here will help guide you in adding content to Canvas courses.
You can add content through Modules or Assignments.
Adding Content through Modules
1. Click the blue Module button within the Modules page.
2. Name the Module and click the blue Add Module button.
3. To add Infobase Learning Cloud resources to a newly created Module (or existing Module), click on + sign to far right of the Module name.
4. In the dropdown box, select External Tool and find the correct tool (likely Infobase Learning Cloud, but each institution names it as they wish) in the list and then click the tool name or the blue magnifying glass.
5. The Infobase Learning Cloud content search box should appear. Enter the keywords of what you want to add and Search. Select the course by clicking on the series title.
6. Choose the materials you wish to include from the course asset list. Click on individual items, full sections, or use the Select All feature. (At least one asset will need to be checked.)
7. Click on Preview Selections and review the selected materials list. If all looks good, click on the Add Resources button.
8. Do not change or modify the URL pulled into the Add Item screen, but you may adjust the Page Name if wanted. Click Add Item.
Adding Content through Assignments
1. Click the blue Assignment button on the Assignments page.
2. Name your assignment on the Details screen.
3. Scroll down to Submission Type and choose External Tool. Click Find.
4. In the Configure External Tool window, choose the correct tool (likely Infobase Learning Cloud, but each institution names it as they wish) in the list and then click the tool name or the blue magnifying glass.
8. Do not change or modify the URL pulled into the Configure External Tool screen. Click Select.
9. Make any further desired settings for points/grading on the Details screen and Save or Save & Publish if ready.
Notes about grading:
GRADING: If assessments are added along with videos a grade will not appear in the gradebook until all videos have been launched and all assessments have been completed. Once everything is completed, the gradebook will populate with the average score of the assessments taken. Grading works the same if assessments are added individually. The gradebook will not populate until all assessments have been completed, and the grade reflected will be their average score for all assessments added to that assignment.
GRADEBOOK: If Infobase Learning Cloud content is added through assignments, Canvas will automatically add a column for that assignment to the gradebook. The instructor can decide whether they want to assign points to it; even if zero (0) points are assigned it will still show in the gradebook. If the content is created directly in modules, Canvas does not give them the option to add it to the gradebook. If the content is added as an assignment and then linked to modules, it will tie to the gradebook (when they click on the Infobase Learning Cloud content link in modules it just loops back to assignments).
